Merry Christmas from Friends of Forman Christian College and the students from campus!
Thanks to your generosity, we surpassed our goal and raised a total of $22,633! Your gifts will be used to help finish and furnish the campus center at Forman Christian College (FCCU).
We are grateful for your thoughtful gifts to FCCU at a time when there are many worthy causes asking for your donations. Thank you for supporting this unique mission!

Dear Friends,
I want to share a short Thanksgiving video we just filmed on the Forman Christian College campus, featuring words of gratitude from some of the students your generous giving helps support.
From all of us at Friends of Forman, wishing you and your family a very Happy Thanksgiving!
Blessings,
Rev. Dr. Roger A. Dermody
Executive Director

Dear Friends,
It has been a joy to meet so many of you during the first twelve weeks of my tenure with Friends. And, in the year ahead, I hope to meet many more of you – our faithful and generous partners.
As you receive this letter, I am on the Forman Christian College (FCCU) campus in Pakistan. It is a wonderful experience speaking with students and staff, exploring the buildings, classrooms, and grounds, and becoming immersed in the rhythms of this University. It is awesome to see first-hand how FCCU is making God’s love visible in the world’s fifth most populous and second largest Muslim country, living true to its motto, “by love serve one another.”
I plan to return just before Thanksgiving with specific stories of how your generosity is providing a far more hopeful future especially for young women and for some of Pakistan’s poorest people. These young adults have the greatest potential yet the least economic means to pursue their dreams. Your gifts to Friends provide scholarships to these aspiring future leaders. You are providing exceptional leadership for the University. And you are helping to build world-class facilities for Forman, adding to its 158-year legacy of graduating many of the region’s top leaders.
As 2022 draws to a close, I particularly want to call your attention to our soon-to-be-completed Campus Center (the only one of its kind in Pakistan). During the uncomfortably hot spring and summer months, over 6,000 commuter students must seek whatever shade they can find under a tree or a bush. Once open, this centerpiece of the campus will provide students a safe, secure, and climate-controlled place to study, socialize, eat, rest, and purchase needed school supplies.
While a very successful capital campaign has enabled us to construct this 177,000-square-foot facility, ongoing supply chain challenges and global economic conditions have added extra costs. Your end-of-year gift of any size to Friends of Forman will help FCCU fully finish and furnish the campus center, allowing for an opening celebration this spring.
Thank you in advance for your continued generosity. Shortly, you will receive two emails from me showing pictures of the progress so far and a video of several students expressing their joy and gratitude for the imminent completion of this project.
From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank you again for supporting this incredible mission, brightly shining God’s love in a country that is too often forgotten. Your donations offer hope and light. Thank you!

“The Friends of Forman board is delighted to call Dr. Roger Dermody to be our next Executive Director,” Chair Gaylen Baxter has announced. “We believe that the future of Friends and Forman Christian College will thrive under his capable leadership.”
Dr. Dermody is a passionate Christ-follower, a Presbyterian minister, a husband, and a father of three daughters. He has traveled extensively in Africa, Asia, and the Middle East on short-term mission trips.
Tom Taylor, CEO of the Presbyterian Foundation, said, “Roger Dermody is an outstanding choice to lead Friends of Forman in its unique mission of supporting higher education for Pakistani women and men of all faiths at Forman Christian College.”
Roger will begin his work with Friends on August 1, 2022 and Sam Schreiner will retire in October 2022. For more information about Dr. Dermody, please click here to read his bio. We look forward to introducing Roger to our donors, churches, and foundation partners.
Did you know? 27% of FCCU students needed scholarships for the 2020-2021 academic year.
In March, I met a Forman Christian College graduate who skips breakfast each day so he can contribute to his sister’s university fees. Education isn’t cheap but it blesses us with skills, insights, and lifelong opportunities which open doors.
In this graduation season would you please consider making a donation to help fund a first-class Forman education for a financially challenged student in Pakistan? A year of undergraduate tuition averages $2,500. Gifts of any size make a difference! If you can help, please click here to donate online and know that many will be forever grateful for your sacrifice.
Thank you!
Grateful for you,
Rev. Sam Schreiner
Executive Director

Dear Friends,
Newsflash! In this newsletter, students returned to campus this spring, plus school sports, faculty, and a visit from Friends of Forman to FCCU.
From March 9-13, I was in Pakistan for the first time in 2 years, traveling with three first-time visitors to Forman. We met with students, faculty, administrators, and saw a lot of progress on campus. After touring all 4 floors of the campus center/digital library (soon to be finished), we dropped in on the newly completed Media Center. We had the honor of being interviewed for campus radio about our “first impressions” after only being in the country for 36 hours! What incredible hosts we had for the duration of this visit.
Forman Christian College is motivated to be at the forefront of education and equip students for future careers. Media (think cell phones and YouTube) is where stories are currently shared, but we want Forman students to share their meaningful messages with maximum impact. For this reason, the popular communications major needed a modern facility on campus ensuring their professional training.
I wish I had more space to tell you about the bright, articulate students and passionate faculty we met, and the packed chapel service we attended. See page three to read about the impressions from my travel partners. Thank you for your gifts and prayers that help FCCU continue to flourish.

Grateful for you,
Rev. Sam Schreiner
Executive Director
Friends of Forman
Christian College
After six years as the Executive Director of Friends of Forman, the Rev. Sam Schreiner has shared with the board his desire to retire in the fall of 2022. Sam has been a vital part of raising funds for Forman’s campus improvements and scholarship support, the work of Forman’s Board of Directors and the recent rector transitions. Sam has recently reflected that,
“It has been a joy to serve Forman Christian College, and I’m glad that there is such a strong partnership between Friends of Forman and the university. Friends of Forman has a talented and deeply committed board of officers and I appreciate the support they have given to me in my time of service.”
A national search is now underway to find his replacement. Candidates with experience in development work, communications, and cross-cultural partnerships will be encouraged to apply by sending a letter of interest and resume to this address: directorsearch@friendsofforman.org. Travel mostly in the US and annually to Pakistan is required to lead Friends of Forman in its mission. The ideal candidate will start in the summer of 2022. For information about Forman Christian College, Friends of Forman, and the position search, visit: https://friendsofforman.org/DirectorSearch
The board of Friends of Forman believes that this is an excellent opportunity for the right individual to lead a small, successful, focused US-based team working with our donors to support a historic, western-style, liberal-arts university with over 8,400 students in Lahore, Pakistan. FCCU is co-educational, with all instruction conducted in English. Founded by US Presbyterian missionary Dr. Charles Forman in 1864, it is led today by a local, ecumenical, Christian board. The current rector (similar to a university president) is Ambassador (ret.) Dr. Jonathan Addleton who was born and raised in Pakistan.
